Feel the warmth, listen to the rhythm of your breath, release all tension, and slow down your thoughts. Your body and soul will thank you!  All 10 rooms are 100 square meters. The high ceilings of the "Sansou" type give you a sense of openness, while the "Takigawa" type is two stories high with via a spiral staircase, creating a more private atmosphere.
Nestled in the greenish mountain side, the 10 suiteroom cottages boast en suite hot-spring baths for undisrupted time and privacy.
Three types of accommodation, a total of ten private guestrooms. Each suite offers over 100sqm space, and a private ensuite hot spring. The high ceilings in the Villa-type rooms create an airy and open space, while the Maisonette-type rooms with two floors connected by spiral staircase offer an enhanced sense of privacy. The interiors feature lavish use of natural wood, allowing you to savor leisurely moments enveloped in its fragrance. All items that come in contact with your skin - bedding, bathrobes, relaxation wear, towels and other amenities - are made in Japan and have been carefully selected for finest quality and smooth finish. Each room has a wooden deck where you can enjoy immersing yourself in the forest and the dappled sunlight, and enjoy a book or teatime.
Goshobessho Artistic Director, Hirosuke Watanuki’s “Muhoan”
Hirosuke Watanuki was born in 1926, relocated to Mikage Kobe in 1930, and graduated from Kansai Gakuin University in 1956. He went on to study at the University of Lisbon in Portugal for fifteen years, during which he also traveled Europe, Africa, and Latin America. It was during this time that his artistic talent bloomed, although he regarded painting as a pastime and disliked being called an artist. His unique style and sophistication, blending Eastern and Western sensibilities, earned him significant recognition in Portugal and southern Europe. After establishing his name as an artist in that region, he returned to Japan with a strong interest in Eastern philosophy and Chinese poetry. He continued to create artwork in his studios in Mikage, Kobe, and Arima Onsen, until his death in 2021. He established his own “Muhoan” aesthetic in his creative endeavors spanning design, sculpture, ceramics, glasswork, architecture, landscaping, poetry, traditional Japanese paper-making, seal engraving, dyeing, weaving, sake, tea, and dim sum. He authored approximately 20 books of poetry, calligraphy, and painting, and held 15 solo exhibitions both in Japan and abroad. Approximately 40 of his works are now housed in 17 museums across Europe and Africa.
“Corvo de Ouro” - the Villa with the Treehouse-style Onsen Bath
Approximately 100sqm in size and with high ceilings, this is a spacious single-story Villa with a charming interior crafted under the artistic supervision of Hirosuke Watanuki. The room boasts luxurious spa facilities - outdoor bath ‘Corvo de Ouro’ and an indoor open-air bath, both drawing Arima Onsen’s famed gold hot spring water, and a low-heat sauna called the 'Thermal Room.' 'Corvo de Ouro' (Golden Crow) is the world's first treehouse-style hot spring bath, inspired by the legend of the crow from the genesis of Arima. With no roof to obstruct the view, and set above Arima Kiyomizu pond, guests are able to be fully immersed in lush nature. As heavy rain or typhoons may pose difficulties in use, we recommend staying for 2 nights or more. Please note that for safety reasons, children are not allowed in this room.

“Takigawa” - Maisonette with a private hot spring and low-heat sauna
Each of our guest rooms offer 100sqm space, and our “Takigawa” Maisonette-type room is no exception. Connected via spiral staircase, this wooden two-floor private suite faces the Takigawa River, enhancing privacy, peace and solitude. The room is equipped with its own private hot spring (drawing Arima Onsen golden hot spring water) and a Thermal Room (low-heat sauna). Doze off to the sounds of the babbling brook after sweating it out in the Thermal Room. Access the Takigawa from the Lobby Building via moving walkway. Located along the river, the entrance is on the second floor, while the bedroom and bathroom are on the first. On sunny days, we recommend forest bathing on the wooden deck. Generating a level of heat similar to human body temperature, it is said spending time in the Thermal Room enhances the immune system, and our guests suffering restricted blood flow to extremities have come back to tell us how well they slept afterward.
